The benefits and results from world-class association management solutions and long-term partnerships
The Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association (HBA) is the leading global nonprofit organization dedicated to the further advancement and impact of women in the healthcare industry. As the association has grown, it found that its technology wasn’t keeping up with the needs of the organization. HBA turned to Protech Cloud Business Solutions, the first and leading association management software (AMS) powered by Microsoft Dynamics 365, to improve its business processes and its members’ online experience. Further, HBA integrated Protech’s AMS with its accounting, email marketing and community platforms, so now data flows seamlessly between the AMS and these third-party systems, enabling staff to create real-time, on-demand reports.
“With Protech’s AMS, I am confident that HBA has the systems in place to grow as our association expands globally,” says Leena Gademsky, director of IT, Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association (HBA)

The Wine & Spirits Wholesalers of America, Inc. (WSWA) is the national trade association representing the wholesale tier of the wine and spirits industry. It is dedicated to advancing the interests and independence of its 362 member organizations – wholesale distributors and brokers of wine and spirits. Spanning all 50 states and the District of Columbia, WSWA’s members distribute more than 80 percent of all wines and spirits sold at wholesale in the United States. Without the luxury of IT support on site, WSWA’s staff had challenges executing basic tasks with its previous association management software (AMS) and developed distrust over the accuracy of its data. By implementing Protech’s cloud-based AMS software and integrating it with its front- and back-office systems, WSWA now has reliable, accurate data to make informed business decisions. Working hand in hand with Protech, WSWA realized opportunities to streamline operations, improve online member engagement and manage its annual convention.
“Protech’s AMS software removed a lot of headaches and a lot of stress. It gave us a better sense of well-being because we have solid, reliable and accurate data available at all times. That has been invaluable for us,” says Bob Wiggans, Senior Director, Membership, Wine & Spirits Wholesalers of America, Inc. (WSWA)

A national association that provides certification for alternative medicine practitioners previously used a custom, proprietary database management system. The system was complex, requiring custom coding by third parties at a significant expense without providing an online web interface to its recertification processes. As a result, its data was fragmented and remained in silos. The association decided to replace its system with Protech’s Cloud Business Solutions, powered by Microsoft Dynamics® 365, because of its well-designed user interface, world-class platform and framework for supporting integration with third-party applications. The new system has helped the association generate additional revenue, reduce administrative costs and improve member experiences.

The American Association of Nurse Assessment Coordination (AANAC) is a non-profit membership organization dedicated to supporting long-term care professionals who provide quality care for nursing home residents across the nation. Founded in 1999, the association is based in Denver and has 20 employees and more than 14,000 members. As AANAC’s membership grew and the organization developed as an association, it became apparent it needed a more robust database that could store, manage, and maintain member records. AANAC identified the necessary functionalities and requirements for a new system and evaluated association management software (AMS) options against these requirements. The best match was Protech Cloud Business Solutions, offered by Protech Associates, Inc., (Protech). With good data stored in a single location, the association can now make data-driven decisions, communicate better with members, and improve membership loyalty, retention and recruitment efforts.
"I can’t say enough about Protech and its implementation team; they are absolutely incredible to work with. The initial success we have achieved is only the beginning of what we hope to accomplish—and our partnership with Protech will be the basis for helping us realize our plans." says Susan Turman, VP of Operations at American Association of Nurse Assessment Coordination (AANAC).

The Connecticut Business & Industry Association (CBIA) is the largest, most representative business organization in the state with 10,000 members from businesses of all sizes from nearly all industries in Connecticut, who rely on their products, services and information to grow and compete in a global economy. Like most organizations, CBIA is staffed to accommodate the organization’s normal business functions, with few resources left over to tackle a major software implementation project. With its growing business needs, CBIA recently replaced its previous-generation association management (AMS) and customer relationship management (CRM) systems with a single solution: Protech Business Solutions. As a result of Protech’s strategic business solutions, CBIA staffers benefit from a streamlined user experience that helps them increase productivity and reduce time spent moving from one application to another.
"We've been a customer for over 15 years, and we feel like we’re still getting the close attention today that we got when Protech was small. In fact, we think we’ve benefited even more because of all the talent Protech has brought on over the years,” says Tom Day, Chief Information Officer at Connecticut Business and Industry Association (CBIA).

The International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans (IFEBP) is a nonprofit organization, dedicated to being a leading, objective and independent global source of employee benefits, compensation and financial literacy education and information. As with many associations, IFEBP’s internally developed solutions could no longer keep up with the association’s needs. Impressed by Protech’s products and commitment to serving associations, IFEBP implemented the Protech solution and has continued to upgrade to new products over the course of more than 20 years. As a result of the depth and breadth Protech’s business solutions offers along with the annual technology planning and support, IFEBP staff and members benefit from the application’s ease-of-use and the extensive knowledge and expertise from the Protech team.
"It was a no-brainer to continue our business relationship with Protech. We've had an outstanding relationship with Protech over the years and there was absolutely no point going outside to look at new systems and starting over with a new software vendor," says Sandy Redner, Director of IT, International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans (IFEBP).

The International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium (ISC2) is the global, not-for-profit leader in educating and certifying information security professionals throughout their careers. (ISC)² provides vendor-neutral education products, career services, and Gold Standard credentials to professionals in more than 135 countries. For (ISC)², real-time integration among its website, accounting system and association management system is critical to maintain a workable operation. (ISC)² decided to replace its previously homegrown AMS system with Protech’s Business Solutions because of its proven track record in improving member experience with real-time resolutions to member issues, improved member satisfaction and retention and increased data accuracy and accessibility.
"Prior to using Protech's business solutions, getting decision-driving data from the prior system was difficult and could take a month or more. This meant decisions were often based on old, unreliable data. We were flying blind. ISC2 can now generate an almost unlimited number of real-time reports about virtually any aspect of the business," says Phillip Casesa, IT Director, International Infomation Systems Security Certification Consortium, (ISC2).

The American Health Lawyers Association (AHLA) is the nation's largest, nonpartisan, 501(c) (3) educational organization devoted to legal issues in the healthcare field. With more than 10,000 members, AHLA provides resources to enable its members to serve their clients more effectively; to produce the highest quality non-partisan educational programs, products, and services concerning health law issues; and to serve as a public resource on selected healthcare legal issues. With AHLA’s previous association management system (AMS), critical information was scattered across multiple databases, spreadsheets and documents, resulting in deceased productivity. In addition, the system failed to integrate with two of AHLA’s critical systems: its Microsoft Dynamics® GP financial system and its website, which is built on Microsoft SharePoint®. AHLA went with Protech’s Business Solutions, powered by Microsoft Dynamics 365 platform, ensuring the compatibility of the solution into the future and saving time and money while delivering a more flexible solution to its members.
“Having Protech Web Portal for Members has really been a big win for us; the more our members use the web, the more money we save,” says Thad Lurie, Director of Technology, American Health Lawyers Association (AHLA).
